Recently our family outing was to Niles, CA, which is just one town over from us.  And this is a fun stop of antique lovers.  And I did not know, until moving here, that this quaint little town is also home to some fun film history.  Any film history buff should be familiar with Charlie Chaplin's classics.  His clown-like acts always bring a smile.  At the Niles Depot, several of his films were made.  At the end of the little street is the Silent Film Museum.   It was fun to see costumes, equipment and more from that decade.  And, what is, even more, fun is that they do dress up and movie nights where you can come in era clothing and enjoy some of those black and white classics.

The depot itself is devoted to a small railroad museum on Sundays only from 10-4.

This moon sculpture is not from a Charlie Chaplin film, but still one of my favorite classics, A Trip to the Moon.

Having majored in film studies at the University of Utah, it was a special treat for me to visit the silent film museum.  Charlie Chaplin shared such a unique talent at the time.  His clown-like actions has always made me smile.  It would have been fun to meet him in person.  The frame rate of old films always adds its own jumpy fun type of element as well.

I have made some of my own silent films with the humor of motherhood.  Check it out at the bottom of this post and subscribe if you like them!
