A Little Brighter - Music Video
Thursday, October 25, 2018
When I first heard this song by Jessica Haskin, "A Little Brighter" I immediately started thinking about some of the times that someones little acts of kindness really made my day, my week, the start of the school year, whatever it be. Like when a client thinks of me on their list and I receive a beautiful Christmas Card with the photos from their session on it. Or getting a thank you gift.
As I read and studied the lyrics, I also thought of some of the less happy moments of unkind actions and what kind of ripple effect that had on my day. One that I thought of was, in high school, it was a rainy day, plenty of heavy books in hand and in my rushing to class, I slipped on the tile floor with my cheap flipflops. Several people rushed past and one boy even obnoxiously said (insert bro voice here) "Well you biffed it haha." But no helping hand up like that super cliche moment in a movie.
And then I thought of those kinds of friends that make you laugh your way out of your tears. Have you ever had that? When you have had a literal shoulder to cry on? Or that person that knows just what to say to wipe away those tears and bring out a smile? Maybe it was after a breakup, or they thought to bring you ice cream? Maybe you didn't get the grade you wanted or the acceptance letter you were expecting and worked tirelessly for. They know just what to say.

Cutest mini cop on the block | Studio Newborn Photography Fremont, CA | The GuzMambo

This sweet little family came to me through a Utah referral! How blessed I feel to have such wonderfully thoughtful clients! Even from states away. This darling little man has a police officer for a daddy so we incorporated it into our session. It adds that additional personal story when my families bring props. For more ideas of what to bring and how to prepare for your newborn session check out this post.
With family from Mexico, we incorporated these adorable handcrafted shoes gifted to them. Too little to fit just yet! Soon enough he will toddle all over the house in them.
And sometimes we catch a little smirk. Wonder what he is dreaming about.
Putting on a Fresh Face | Personal Portraits at La Caille | Rebecca Mabey
Wednesday, October 10, 2018

Sometimes a girl just has to dress up to remember she is beautiful and so, I spoiled myself with this photoshoot. Thank you to my talented husband, Matthew for taking these.
I have noticed that I do wear less makeup than I used to. I think it is important to look in the mirror and feel beautiful just the way you are. But anyway, it is fun and refreshing to put on a glammed up face. Lately my 6 year old wants to help do my makeup. So we have had all kinds of fun with the lipstick and blush etc. I will admit, she has gotten much better at it than we first started that fun when she was 3. She thought she was so funny being a little too messy in the cute video we made together.
So when is the last time you put on a fresh face and did something fun like this just for you? Maybe a gift for your husband or just a reminder that you might need, that you are beautiful.
I once did a shoot for a beautiful young girl in her 20's. I asked her what the pictures were for. "I just broke up with my boyfriend and I needed a pick me up" Don't we all need that once in a while.
Email to set up your own portrait session and we will capture that beautiful side of you.
