Was talking with my mom tonight about being a mom and how quickly the time goes. Right now my youngest is driving his car around excited talking about it in 18 month old gibberish. You know, the sing songy kind of squealy talk.
"Mothers hold their child's hand for a moment and hearts for a lifetime." - Unknown
And not to forget that "The days are long but the years go fast." A few favorite motherhood quotes. Sometimes you just have to pause and play cars making your "brum brum" noises.
These are just a few favorites from a session I did over the summer in Fort Collins, CO with Noelle and her daughter at the Raptor Observatory. Sounds so Jurassic Park doesn't it? It has such a pretty grand view of the foothills and mountain doesn't it? And if you look closely you can even see Horsetooth. Noelle's blue blouse matched the wild flowers perfectly. I take full credit. J/K. Thanks mother nature.

Travel Photography | Washington State Roadtrip
Monday, October 19, 2015
They say a tree that falls in the forest never fell if no one hears it. Well that is what I feel like when it comes to the many pictures I take and simply just might not get around to sharing them when it comes to my personal adventures! Why... because other things take priority and that is just how it is.
Today I would like to share some of these stunning shots from our Washington Road trip we took back in 2012 when we road tripped through there as a family of three back then.
Washington, as you may know is typically overcast the majority of the year, but we just so happened to have the rare experience of blue sky for most of the entire week we were there so we saw it through a different light. Literally.
The first day was the long stretch and my amazing husband drove the WHOLE way. He is a champ. We drove from Salt Lake to Yakima. Yakima is on the drier side of the state and that is where there is the apple country which I was really eager to stop at an orchard but frankly it becomes impossible to do a full state in just a short week!
I have officially started a gallery where you can purchase travel prints from my travels HERE.

I love photographing this age! That 7-12 year old age range just brings back so many memories of when I was what a kid as those memories are a bit stronger and I recall more of them. Many learning experiences. An age of being inspired in the world of wonderment. Starting to develop you passions for different things. At that age I really got into the crafting. I mean I would lay down on some fabric laid out and trace my body out then cut it out to make a dress haha. I just laugh about the thought of me and what I use to do. It's also that age where after school snacks like marsh-mellows melted in the microwave seem like a perfectly good idea to a child!
For Emily's and Joshua's portrait session we captured what I thought to be the last of the blossoms, but I am quickly learning that blossoms come back again and again on trees around here in North Carolina. Beautiful hot pink flowers are in bloom right now in the high branches of some trees and I LOVE it! I mean, this is my kind of eye candy that I get excited about.
Can I be the one to say, "EEEEEKKK!" This little... I mean BIG friend was slithering through the gardens as we were walking around doing pictures. I could have gotten a better picture to get his head in the picture but I am not that well educated about snakes other than our occasional trip to the Life and Science Museum in Durham.
The one on the right is a combination of Power Rangers and Sibling power! When our powers combine! If I am totally wrong in that phrase by all means bring me up to speed. I may be confusing that with Captain Planet:)

Some favorites from the Lewis family! I am trying to keep up with ALL this blogging I have to do best I can!

Location | American Tobacco Campus
This sweet little family chose a fun location! While American Tobacco Campus is no longer used for its original purpose, they left the waterfalls and a unique history behind. I like the color and mix of contemporary urban styles with those historic aspects. Whenever I am out and about location scouting, decaying old prints on the sides of buildings always catch my eye. They always tell a story in and of themselves. When I first came to Durham and was downtown with the family to visit Dames Chicken and Waffles (which is AMAZING btw), I fell in love with the old decorative fish painted on the side of an old building that had seen years of wear and tear. The whole side of the building was this fish design... but they recently have redeveloped the area, so now it under construction! Tear ... tear. Yep I do pout about things I missed out on capturing before they are gone! Like the fall leaves! Autumn family picture season is filling up fast! So that makes me happy because fall is by far my favorite season. Bright colors, crisp cool air, pumpkins, cider...
